Why are criminal background checks so important? You feel like you have known someone for a long time, so why is it necessary to dig into their past and find things about them that should have been buried long ago. Why should you check this person out with a backround check? Why should you see if they are who they say they are? Because not everybody is honest. It really is that simple. If you are living next to a burglar who has committed hundreds of offenses, and is still on parole, would you feel comfortable? Probably not. Would you lock your doors more then leave them open when you found out? How about if that person has multiple assault convictions? Even worse, is a registered sex offender? You might try to find a way to have them move or you might move. But how can you go about finding this out? Did you know that arrests, jail time, and convictions are public records? It's true. All of this is public information and can be obtained rather easily, but you might have to pay for it since a person has to physically maintain a database. There is nothing wrong with that since you can not put a price on safety. It also means the data base is better with documents and reports that are factual instead of a database with lots of errors and wrong documents against someone with the same name. That could make you believe that JOHN next door is the same one you read is a criminal when in fact, he is not the same John! Never assume someone else has done this work already. Not all background checks are created equal.Especially ones that just "Load Data" into the servers and allow anyone to use it and sometime even minipulate it. Some have very limited information. Worse they have BAD information on a person. Some don't check out of state court records, and some are missing important details. You need to know this! You would feel horrible if you accused someone of something they were never involved in. Worse yet, if it was the wrong person with the same name. That might you feel very badly for hurting someone that really is not guilty of anything! By performing your own checks, you must be assured that a full search was done, and how good are these records. Reliablity is a key! You can know first hand exactly what this person has been convicted of if this information is accurate. Maybe it is nothing, but maybe what was ignored by the employer is a big deal to you, and changes your view. Maybe the employer ignored the info your looking at is not reliable? Maybe the employer used a bad database and did not know this information IS reliable and now your smarter then that company because you did your homework and know this person is bad news! Your security is worth it. Your family also depends on this. Don't let problems go unnoticed. Know who you are living around and get this information before it is too late. Before your child gets hurt. Before you get hurt! Before it is to late is really the bottom line. Your peace of mind is worth how much?
